Okay, so it’s a big let-down that they aren’t continuing from the last anime; but I’m very happy to have new FMA. This version, though, feels too sped up and their meeting with Hughes was weird. Everything feels really rushed and something about the characters feels off. I agree though, the opening song makes me feel like they know they’re repeating their lives. I kept waiting for Ed to wake up in Germany or something, lol. Too bad, I’ll just keep watching and hope they find a way to tie it in, or make it better. Though so far, I’m liking the origional anime better =/

well the fisrt episode seems to be decent but i hope this one really sticks with the manga….

BTW FMA brotherhood is a REMAKE! not a sequence or some sort but a REMAKE so dont ask why this anime doesnt follow the first one!!!

right the last anime was done in 2003-2004, this episode is just introductory episode where people can get reaquainted with the characters, THIS DIDN’T HAPPAN IN THE MANGA. this is filler and next episode will start off right at the begining of the manga. i know i’m wasting my time saying this because there will be more fucktards saying it sucks that is not a continuation but hey “Fuck you” now shut ya bitchin and watch. also the last anime sucked at the end.

animation seems pretty sick but pretty much like the old one, the old one was really good though so i dunno if this one can top it. I also think this one seems quite rushed, and the voice cast of Roy Mustang seems 2 be slightly in conflict with his character but 1st ep looked good, the last anime rushed it a bit in the end but it was a good ending

I dont know about this. The original fullmetal alchemist anime is one of the greatest animes ever and I know that now there following the manga(kind of) but this all just feels awkward. I dont want to see Edward repeat his depressing life again with a different story. At the end of the movie when Edward and Al where reunited, I was happy and relieved about the ending and how well everything tied up. If they had thought of a new story and twist which continued from the movie, I would of been a lot more happier. A way for Ed and Al to return to their world. I dont feel like seeing the process again of how Ed and Al get their bodies back. The manga and original anime are both amazing in there own way. Either leave both of them alone or continue the story. But since I’m such a fullmetal fan, I’m most likely going to end up watching this anyway.

I loved that… ^__^ and to all that say this isnt like the manga… well you cant just start off right up with father Cornello or it’ll be too much like the old anime and repitition… people don’t like that and will complain… this is to introduce everyone…I havent read a lot of the manga (1-3)… but im sure the rest will follow, and this episode wasn’t the least dissapointing.. I love the music and HUGHES XD

ugh, how many freaking different storylines does Full Metal Alchemist need?
We have the original anime, the manga, and now this crap. And the first episode is the same old cliche of the bad guy figering out their secret. Wtf, you have to be somewhat original. This series might as well be filler.

Oh yea, and wtf, why did they make Ed sound like Naruto? Makes me want to shoot myself.
I just hope the storyline actually becomes something cool like the manga

hm…it still sucks that you know who gonna die and who are the “bad guys” and so on. There is no drama or suprise. true it will be different in many ways, but you just know to much! i dont want to see hughes get killed again and stuff like this! and everytime you see the führer, you will think ” you damn bastard, i know you are a humunculus!” so in the end, even if it gonna be a good one, you wont get so thrilled like you was with the first FMA

the funimation translation is not as good as these, which is truly sad. they dumber it down some. they didn’t even sub the OP or ED.

Aw, they took Nina’s lines and gave them to Elysia. Not good, not good. Actually, this whole episode is awkward. Like they were anticipating more returning fans than newcomers (which is very likely), so they did their best to cram EVERY. CHARACTER. POSSIBLE. in the first episode. Get it out of the way. Which makes EVERYONE look a little silly.
And might I add, they make Ed seem a little weak.
10:00 is really odd. Hughes is saying how it must be tough for Ed to have to be a dog of the military, and then they cut to Ed SMILING??? Yeah, he really looks depressed about it.
And the Ice Alchemist was stupider than Cornello.
Now that I’m done criticizing the first episode, I must say I hope that “we’re following the manga this time” means “we’re going to put Ling and Ran Fan in the anime”. I can’t wait to see them (but it will be a long time).

I wish people would stop obsessing about the hughes/elysia birth scene! IN the MANGA it DIDN’T happen. Thats why they hadn’t met the Hughes family yet in this new anime. They do help with a birth in the manga but that is later and in Rush Valley… and Winry does most of it

I was also very confused about the timeline while watching this since in the first Anime lot’s of ppl are dead, lots of events don’t seem to have taken place. Al and Ed aren’t in the other world and Al is alive. But now that I read this is going to follow the Manga I am excited as I have heard that the Manga is EPIC!
Either way I am excited that FMA is back baby!

For those of you wondering why the timeline is “weird” it’s because this is the anime that actually follows the manga in opposition to the normal FMA.
So all the stuff that happened in FMA hasn’t happened here, wether it will happen or not we shall just have to wait and see (or read if we choose to). And with that I choose to end this comment by saying: FMA and FMA – Brotherhood is Awesome! <3

Anyway, it’s really great and funny to see all of them in action again, and acting just like they’re usual self… Especially nice to see Hughes again, could have done without Bradley though… :S

seriously guys…this shit sucked. I’m not saying this just to be an antagonist. seriously look at the the old episode v.s. the new. The new ones, yea the graphics are up to date but look how toonish it is. the old full metal was ALOT more serious. And the lessons in the story where well placed. especially when it came to talking their mother. And Why the F do they keep bringing up his arm and the sin every episode. Its monotonous, and everyone has to know about it…its alot cooler when its a secret……shits wack….might as well go watch power rangers if this is the quality they are spitting out.
